Frequently Asked questions:

Do color services come with a blow dry?

All of our services are a la carte, meaning the only service that comes with a blow dry is a haircut. If you are looking to get an additional service with your color, remember to book accordingly in order to make sure we have the time to do so.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A KERATIN AND AN Express Keratin BLOWOUT?

A Keratin treatment is a more intensive treatment that lasts about 4-6 months, depending on how often you wash your hair. The purpose of a Keratin treatment is to slightly reduce curl pattern and assist in eliminating frizz. Keratins are a longer process; first we shampoo you multiple times, then we apply the treatment, followed by allowing the treatment to process for up to 30 minutes, and then finally drying and flat ironing the hair.

In contrast, an Express Keratin Blowout treatment is a less intense treatment, taking only slightly longer than a blow dry (which normally is around 30-45 minutes). You will be shampooed multiple times and then the product will be applied and blown dry and that is it! The purpose of this treatment is to reduce frizz and make blowing out your hair easier. This treatment typically lasts about 6 weeks, depending on how often you blow dry.

Neither product will straighten your hair and both require aftercare of using sulfate-free products. For a recommendation of which treatment will work best with your hair, book a consultation with one of our stylists. We use Keratin Complex brand for each.

do you allow tips on credit cards?

For those who wish to show appreciation, the industry averages are from 18%-20% of the service. We do NOT accept credit card tips. We accept tips in cash or, for your convenience, through the Venmo app. There is a sheet with all of the stylists’ and assistants’ Venmo codes at our front desk.

what kind of extensions do you use? WHAT ARE THEY LIKE?

We exclusively use HairTalk brand extensions. We feature three different styles of extensions: tape-in, keratin (also referred to as fusions), and weft extensions. We require a consultation in order to match up your extension color to your hair and when ordering the hair, we need at least a week in advance to your installation appointment to order the hair. *Please note: sometimes shipments get delayed and we will always do what we can to ensure that we receive your hair on time, but ask for your patience in the event the order gets delayed. All of our stylists are HairTalk master certified, but not all of our stylists do the weft extensions.

Tape-in extensions are sections of pre taped hair, usually about 1 - 1 1/2 inches wide. They are “sandwiched” with a thin section of your own hair between them. Each tape-in application is fully customizable by utilizing the largest selection of band sizes and styles, which allows for a seamless transformation. The results are discreet, comfortable, and blend perfectly with clients’ natural hair.

Weft extensions require a method of attaching beads to strands of your own hair so that the weft may then be hand tied to them. The extensions are sewn in with a water resistant nylon string. This kind of extension would be ideal for those looking to add more volume and length with a natural look, and without putting too much tension or weight on the scalp.

Keratin (Fusion) extensions are individual strands of extensions that are bonded to your own hair using heat to melt the keratin adhesive. The individual strands are strategically placed in rows throughout your head. This placement allows for a seamless, moveble look.

Hair-wear pieces offer a semi-permanent, fully customizable solution for clients experiencing more severe forms of hair loss. This system uses our tape-in method previously mentioned above.

Accessory extensions offer a fun new look within minutes! Once your stylist customizes your accessory, you can install it whenever you want. We offer hairbands, top of head, and bang-ins.

what is a glaze?

When you get your nails painted, they put a top coat on top of your polish. This is essentially what a glaze is for your hair. There are multiple purposes for a glaze. When highlighting the hair, the lightener strips your hair of color. A glaze puts pigment back into your hair and gives it shine. This would be considered an “add-on glaze,” which is usually featured with a highlighting service. A regular “glaze” is a stand alone service that mainly adds shine but can also add pigment as well. A glaze is a great way to temporarily change your color. A glaze typically lasts 4-6 weeks, depending on how often you wash your hair. “Toner” is another term people use to refer to glazes because a glaze can tone out unwanted pigment.

WHAT KIND OF PRODUCTS DO YOU USE IN YOUR SALON?

For color, we use all Wella along with PulpRiot vivid colors and some of their toners. As for styling products, we use Wella, Milkshake, and Davines. Salon Millan uses a men’s haircare line called MVRCK. For extensions, we strongly recommend using the HairTalk products we sell to help maintain your extensions.
